Slumdog Millionaire- MOVIE Entry

This movie was absolutely amazing! I loved every single moment of it. I am usually picky when it comes to films, but this movie actually caught my attention. I would recommend it to anyone; its truly breath-taking and lets you go through all different feelings possible. There is a mixture of adventure, action, romance, suspense and comedy. Slumdog Millionaire is officially one of my top 5 favorite movies.

The book and the movies contain many differences and similarities.

Major differences:
  • The movie provides more romance than the book.
  • The characters in the book have different names and goals in the movie.
  • In the book "Ram's" mother or family leaves him at the door step of a priest, in the movie his mother gets attack by Muslims and dies.
  • In the movie Salim and Jamal(Ram) are actually brothers.
  • In the movie Jamal(Ram) is trying to win the game show as he is in the book, but in the movie there is a twist to it. Jamal only does the game show mainly because he wants to get in touch with the love of his life Latika.
Connection: Text to Text- What Jamal(Ram) Always needed was love form another female that he never got to experience since he did not grow up with his mother. In the book he gets the loving figure from Smita. Who grows a strong relationship with him as the story goes on. In the movie Jamal becomes close to Latika, who he is in love with. After years and years of always being seperated from her, in the end he finally got her and the type of love he always needed.

Random Thought: Through reading this book and the movie, it made me more interested in the Indian Culture. Hopefully I can visit the Country some day. ( :

Slumdog Millionaire- Entry 5

Comments:
  1. Ram and Smita are both hurt by the death of Shankar, how he did not deserve to die the way his life ended.
  2. Ram Mohammad Thomas went through so much in life, and it truly amazes me. He went through hell and back and yet still survived alone and became the great, kind-hearted genius that he is. He is a miracle baby.
  3. Prem Kumer played Ram ! Prem Kumer is a coward!
  4. Smita cares for Ram like a mother would care for a son. Ram was actually comfortable with her.
  5. Prem Kumer committed suicide according to the police, by gassing himself to death in his car.

Questions:
  1. How did Ram survive through his journey in life? How did he have the strength to make it?
  2. Why isn't Prem Kumer fired?
  3. Do they actually know that this man is no good? It all makes sense now why people dont usually win the show. Or I might be wrong ..
  4. Will Smita and Ram end up caring for each other like a family does?
